The Orion Pirates

by Gideon Marcus

The Orion Pirates exist for one overriding reason—to provide a support base for the oft times illegal gathering of information and funds. Membership is by recommendation only and honor is the highest of all membership virtues. The Orions will sell information to anybody for a high but reasonable price. Information may be bought at a lower price by other Orions, but under the condition that this information is not given to anyone else. Orion pirates generally rely on members to maintain their knowledge pool. Rarely does the Orion organization ask other governments or individuals for information. Orion pirates who discover information on their own can sell this knowledge to the organization for modest fees, more information, and/or repair dock time. This may not seem like much, but when the only dock a pirate can truly rest in is a pirate dock, such a thing becomes a valuable commodity. Individual Orions may sell their data on the open market, but it is generally required the organization get its cut of the money if the data is in the Orion data banks. The percentage can be anywhere from 10% to 50%--depending on how much of the Orion organization's resources are involved.

One famous ship serving the Orion Organization was the Future Shock.  Designed for hit-and-run missions against one or two freighters, it proved to be a match for a Necroid Frigate. Upon completion of the the Clark 521 mission, the Future Shock was upgraded.  The original and upgraded models are here for your perusal.

A fast and agile ship, it is a match for any freighter or escort it comes across.  When the big boys arrive, however, this ship heads home!
